Tentative Closing Day
Our hours have changed for the fall again! We currently open at 8am and close at 7pm. Intake hours are from 8:30am-6:30pm, but please speak to a staff member prior to bringing a bird to the Center. We are currently operating with limited staff and at times we may not be at the facility. We are accepting birds on a limited basis due to our anticipated seasonal close on Sunday November 4, 2018. The songbirds migrate and we close until April or May of 2019.
If you need immediate assistance near the Washtenaw County area, you can contact the Humane Society of Huron Valley or the Howell Nature Center. You can also contact any rehabber on the Michigan DNR website during our off period.
Need assistance for a bird?
The Bird Center is currently operating under abbreviated summer hours. We are open daily from 8 AM – 7 PM, and intake hours are from 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM. Please contact us before bringing us a bird so we can figure out if the bird needs to come in for rehab or not. Often times fledglings are found on the ground and are mistaken for injured bird. Photos and videos help us! If you bring a bird to us, we ask for about 10 minutes of your time to fill out an intake form. If you have found an injured bird, please keep it in a stress-free area and avoid touching it. DO NOT give it food or water unless instructed to do so.
If you cannot get the bird to us due to lack of transportation, we may be able to arrange transport so please let us know – this IS an option!
*We do not accept large waterfowl or raptors.*
